General information

ALL ABOUT GOLDENDOODLES!

A goldendoodle is a poodle mixed with a golden retriever and may demonstrate any combination of traits from those two breeds. Here are the different kinds of goldendoodles:

F1 = 50% Golden Retriever and 50% Poodle - This is Golden retriever to poodle cross, this is first generation! Hair type can be smooth like a Golden, or wavy/shaggy or occasionally a wirey look like a Irish wolfhound (but with a softer feel), they can shed or not shed, pups in the same litter can vary.

F1-B = 25% Golden Retriever and 75% Poodle (F1 Goldendoodle and Poodle cross) - This is Goldendoodle bred back to Poodle. Curlier pups will result in this litter and they  are known to be the best for allergies and non shedding results.

F2 = F1 Goldendoodle and F1 Goldendoodle cross - this combination you get the same percentage of Golden Poodle mix as you would an F1 Goldendoodle.

F3 = F2 Goldendoodle and F2 Goldendoodle cross

Poodle hybrids have become very popular in the past few years. They play a big role in the current designer dog trend. The cross with the Poodle is usually because of the Poodle's non-shedding coat. The experimentation of these hybrid or designer dogs has not yet been recognized by the American Kennel Club or Canadian Kennel Club. The key to cross breeding to purebred dogs is what is called hybrid vigor, the breeding resulting in a healthier dog with superior genetic constitution can come from dogs purebred for so long that they have common genetic disorders. This cross breed is closely associated with the Labradoodle. Most Goldendoodles don’t shed, or shed lightly and can be hypoallergenic. These dogs are very devoted to their family; they are social dogs - happiest when with people.

Are you ready for a DOODLE!!!

We know and understand the work that come with a large breed puppy and we ha

Thinking about purchasing an Goldendoodle? Then read our breed profile including a brief description, information on height, weight, color, coat, temperament, grooming, activity and history. Purchasing a new puppy is a commitment that may last ten or more years so please educate yourself on the Goldendoodle breed.

Ask yourself will I be a good owner? Do I have the time it takes to train a new puppy? Do I have a local veterinarian that I can take my new dog to? Do I have a groomer or can I do the grooming myself on a regular basis. Do i have  Fundamental requirements for a being a good Goldendoodle owner;

  • properly feed your new dog,
  • house them comfortably
  • train them in basic obedience.
  • Informe you're self on the price of vaccination, grooming, spaying/neutering, food to make sure that a puppy/dog is something you and you're family can afford. ** Our dogs and puppies are on Royal Canin ** this is a good quality food. Not the best and not the worst. We do not suggest pedigree, puppy chow, beneful, purina for a lifelong food for your doodle. These are low quality food and can make you're dog obese. It's like eating at the restaurant every day. Royal canin is a normal standard meal. Their also other kinds like Origen, fromm, wellness, Blue- that are organic, natural and very healthy meals for you're pets but also the healthier the more expensive. Also some of our dogs have not like the taste for some reason but fromm is one that all our dog like and we buy once in a while for our adult. :)

You can ask about a puppy but until we have received a deposit for a puppy we unfortunately can't reserve a puppy but can put him pending for 24hours. You must notify us of this. If you are waiting for updated pictures it can take up to 10days for you to receive them and the puppy can still be sold in the mean time.

3. Kennel Hopping - Should you come and visit our home, you must not have visited another kennel within the past 15 days prior to the date of an appointment. If you do not understand the reason it is because of viruses that can be transmitted from kennel through kennel by people visiting infected kennels and then visiting uninfected kennels. #1 is our dogs health and we will not jeopardize this for anything. If you have visited a kennel but would also like to come and visit ours please contact us and be honest, advise us and let us know. The 15 day period allows a certain safeness that the virus is dead and if you have an animal (counting the 10 day incubation period) you would notice it being infected. This is not a matter to fool around with once you arrive at our location. You will find PURELL or our kitchen sink with soap (use them). It will clear your hands of almost everything harmful and then you're hand can receive love and kisses for our puppies.. Depending on time of year, we may require that you soak the bottom of your shoes in a concentration of 40:1 Water: Bleach ratio to clear any diseases under shoes.

Potty training!

Here are a few pointers for potty training....

1. Always catch him/her on the spot! 30 seconds later is too late and the puppy will NOT UNDERSTAND why it is being punished.

2. NEVER ever let him/her see you pick up the mess... If you pick it up and he/she sees you then he/she will think it's ok to go there...

3. Never put the dog's nose in the feces or urine, this is toxic and can cause bad diarrhea meaning even more feces everywhere... Putting the nose close but not in it will be enough to make them understand.

4. Tone of voice is crucial, even though you may not want to be mean to a cute little puppy you must be firm in your tone of voice to punish him/her, being soft only encourages the puppy thus reversing training this can prolong training indefinitely if left untreated. Don't forget a puppy doesn't understand much of what you are saying, he/she will rely on your tone of voice to know if what he/she is doing is right or wrong.

5. It takes time and consistency to train a puppy, even if after trying for 1 weeks the puppy can still not understand but do not change your training habits or you are starting from scratch, everything should be a repeat until he/she is trained. For example training your puppy to go on the potty pad... until your puppy goes on the pad do not change the pads location, do not change your words or tone of voice when scolding him/her, just keep going at it until the puppy finally understands.

6. Giving them praising treats is perfect way to encourage your puppy. Make sure that they do something before receiving a treat. They should always be watch outside to make sure they do ... and if they do you should always have a treat in your pocket or close by. Again, if you wait more than 30 seconds to give them a treat they will not understand why they are receiving their treats. Also not that puppies should not be getting any kinds of treats. Stick with natural, plain or puppy cookies. We highly suggest natural chicken stripes from cosco. They break into pieces very easily and they are very good and healthy for your puppy.. and also irresistible.

**** Please note... the smaller the piece of doggy treat is the more they will want some and the more they will be eager to please. Large breed should have a piece large like your tip of thumb. (max). ***

FIRST - Patience, consistente, rewards, tone of voice and Firm!

Professional trainers all agree that potty training will go best when the crate training method is used. This means that you will use a crate (small wire crate, or plastic pet taxi) to confine your puppy whenever you are not able to watch him for short/med periods of time. Take the puppy through the same door to the same spot in the yard each time when bringing him for his busness. Puppies will by instinct wish to keep their eating and sleeping area (their den) clean and will hold their potty as long as they can. By using the crate, the puppy's instinct will be working for you, and he will be pottying when and where you want him to. ** Please not the the crate should not be too big which is why you cna buy a crate with a puppy division pannel.

If you are going to be playing and interacting with your puppy, he would be free to be out of his crate as long as you like. He will start to circle and sniff and look for a place to potty when he has to go and when you are watching him, you can quickly take him to his potty spot. By watching closely, you will soon learn your puppy's individual body language. Minimize your pup's chances of making a mistake by predicting when he will need to relieve himself. The critical times to watch are : as soon as he awakens, as soon as he finishes a meal, first thing in the morning, after a play session, and of course, as soon as you take him out of his crate. Do NOT let your puppy run lose when your eyes are not on him....even for a couple minutes. Each time your puppy has an accident, he is being trained to potty in that spot. Each time the puppy goes in the right spot, he is being trained to relieve himself there. Consistent training will bring consistent results. Also a goldendoodle puppy can sometime chew thing that should not be chewed , so always have an eye on youre puppy until trained and until you trust him/her.

During the times you will be gone ... for more than 8 hours, your puppy should have access to either a dog water bottles (similar to rabbit's bottle) or a water boll. They should be crated or safe puppy pens... and this will be for the safety of your puppy, for the safety of any chewable object and to avoid any sort of messes while you are gone. When you are home, continue with the routine of crating your puppy, and taking him out to potty every hour.

I have found it very helpful to have an exercise pen for the house, and one for the yard (if your yard is not fenced). The exercise pen inside the house is puppy's safe haven. Large breed puppies can easily jump exercise pens so we do not suggest you to leave your puppy in the pen while you are gone. The crate will be the more ideal solution for the puppies safety and to avoid messes.
